Inspired by the holiday markets that pop up throughout Germany and France each year, the city of Alexandria decided to launch its own outdoor, Euro-style shopping center. Alexandria's Holiday Market welcomes shoppers every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday now through December 23rd at John Carlyle Square.
It's free to come and peruse items at the wooden booths, but bring your wallet along if you still have some gifts to buy. Regional vendors will stock their small shops with handmade crafts and works of art, the perfect presents for friends or family. While you browse, enjoy a holiday sweet and a mug of mulled wine or take a break and check out the live music that's on tap each evening. Bring the kids along, too, to enjoy child-friendly activities at Alexandria's Holiday Market.
